Olaf, I agree with you, the eyes are the window to the soul. Whenever possible a portrait should show the eyes. As you've observed this is the way we fly. I've known Dave for almost 14 years and it is rare that I see him without sunglasses on. To me, this is the way I see and know him.

Just to make my point clear, in this shot, the glasses are a natural part of the picture: this is what this man looks like when he's doing his thing (being an RC pilot). I don't think it was wrong to have the dark glasses in this particular photograph. The picture portrays this man well, by showing not just him, but also his passion. --Olaf

I have several shots of people, hiding their eyes behind shades, and everytime I hate myself for not remembering to kindly ask them to take off the obstruction to the mirror of their soul! Sorry if I sound harsh, not intended, it's just that I feel strongly about glasses that won't let me see the eyes - not restricted to - but especially when taking photos of people. I can see the that this was probably more of a candid shot and in a situation like that, you can't very well ask people to take off their glasses, can you? Once again sorry, you just pushed one of my buttons, OK? --Olaf
