I find it so amusing that so many people don't think this is so opposite! I'm thinking 'who on Earth would wear a gown with workboots' - obviously a lot of people! LOL! Thanks for the comments. :) ~ Lonnit
Your visions never cease to amaze me!!! I really do like this shot, I think you did an awesome job. It may be a stretch for the opposite theme, but who cares I am so glad you shared it with us.

I liked that the boots were more obvious in this one, but I liked the more sophisticated pose of the other. I couldn't decide so I figured I'd post both.
My hand was there b/c I stupidly put it there, but I'll deny that and say that Victor was right and it was an intentional play on another opposite. I took about 50 shots in all different poses but this one showed off the boots most obviously.
The exposure wasn't so perfect, although it was identical to the other shot. Photoshop helped it out a bit.
As for the women in Maine, oh well... but here in fashionable NYC we don't do that - well not unless it's on a top designer's runway! LOL! ;)
Iso, I've been amazed how few of the shots scream opposites to me. Maybe we're all trying to get so far away from the run-of-the-mill opposites, that we're losing people. I figured this one was fairly straightforward; the opposite shoes than what would normally be worn. But I guess, like a joke, if you've got to explain it, it lost the whole point! LOL!
Actually, I'm glad you liked thes better than the first challenge ones because firstly, it says I'm improving, and secondly, those were quick, simple shots. These new shots were an effort. Between being the model and being the photog, I was drained when I was done with the shoot!
Yes, I did lighten the background. I was standing in front of a white wall but my carpet is teal. I would LOVE to have a seamless white background and have been thinking about ways to hang the roll in my living room and disguise it! Anyway, I had to use a white bed sheet on the floor. That was problematic though becuase with all the back and fourth to the camera to hit the self timer, the sheet was all wrinkled, plus, I'd sink down into the carpet as well which was messing up the look of the bottom edge of the boots. I then had to clone out the sheet to make it look more like seamless.
If I'm cryptic, well that's cool - obvious can get pretty boring. ;) LOL!
IMO, the composition, tighter framing, and position of the boot being more exposed makes this image the more impactful then the other one. I'm not sure what your hand is doing on your derier but, maybe it's balancing you so you can sit like that? :-) Nice work with this one. Mark J

To me this is clearly the better picture as well. But I don't know how you guys are missing the opposites. She's holding them with each hand!

Hi Lonnit,
What a great shot. As Garret says, perfect exposure. The only problem is the opposites, all the women here in Maine wears boots like that with a dress when they go out on the town. So you'd fit right in here. :-)
I'd agree that this is the better shot. Personally it doesn't scream opposites at me, but that doesn't take away the fact that it's a decent pic. The pose, expression and comp are all good in this. And it can be very difficult to be objective about a self portrait. In fact I like this better than the ones you entered in challenge 1!
On a pure technicality you can see where you've made the background whiter than it was, but it's subtle as it seems a bit vignetted around the edges. Like I said, not the most obvious opposite, but nor is *What's going on in there*. Your talent is cryptic. Or I'm a little slow ;-)
