Ahhhh... gotcha now Al. :) ~ Lonnit

I wasn't clear enough...the lips sort of help represent the opposite theme, also. You know, muted tones of skin and clothes vs vibrant tones of vivid red lips. I'm getting too weird here...never mind.-Al Pacheco

Norman Rockwell is a favorite of mine, although I haven't seen any of his work in years, and now that you say it, I can see why. What I do find amazing is that people have before mentioned that some of my shots remind them of other artists; Monet, and Escher. Comments like that make me very happy. :) I can't imagine 3 more different styles of art, yet this doesn't really surprise me. My tastes in everything run in extremely varied directions, so I guess that my photography shouldn't be any different! LOL!

You don't care for the lips not being in the same color tone? I thought the redness adds to the sexy/glamourous side. Oh well! LOL! I also loved the laces open, making the boots all the more casual and carefree against the haughty attitude of the pose.

Thanks! ~Lonnit

Lonnit, you've done good here. When I first looked at this image I had the feeling I was looking at an old Saturday Evening Post illustration by Norman Rockwell. It has that effect. The opposite feeling of glamour and old boots is a perfect touch. All of the tones in the image, dress, boots, scarf, skin, and hair are very much in tune...except for your lips. The tiny tangle of laces at the bottom draw the eye to those sexy boots! This is very nice. -Al Pacheco

After I posted my message, I realized that I didn't specify how much to rotate. I had in mind a degree or two counter-clockwise (or anti-clockwise as they say). But it could also work very well being rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

Yes, it does look a bit tilted but it's actually not; it's the pose. I had considered rotating it a bit to make it look straighter, but I didn't; by 3am I had no more energy for it! LOL!

As for the insult, that's why I chose it for the title. I liked the irony of that being deemed an insult when in reality I don't think too many women would be all that insulted if someone told them they looked like this in combat boots! LOL!

I didn't happen to have a wedding dress laying around handy! LOL! Well, actually, I do have mine in the closet, but it's been preserved and is all boxed up. I don't think I want to spend another $200 to rebox it, so this dress will have to be glam enough! LOL! I think it's hyserical though that you want a dressier outfit!!! ;)

This one looks tilted. Does the picture need to be rotated?

Your title, REALLY cracked me up this morning :-) The title was acutually an insult my friends and I used to tell each other when we were teenagers.... "your moma wears combat boots" LOL. Getting serious now, the image is an interesting one and I like your composition but, maybe something like a wedding dress would have been more contrasting with the boots? :-) Mark J
