I like the sun, it gives adds to the overall futility of the situation. .. desert and sun go hand in hand.

I like the composition, the silhouettes and the sharp DOF.
However, I think the bright sunlight in the corner is distracting and perhaps should have been cropped out - though that would have messed up the composition a bit I think.
