Great idea. I do agree about the tension. I think it is the posturing of the hands. One hand is covering one side, there is no active movement with the other to turn a page. It almost feels like the subject found a picture that irritated him on the right page.

This particular image stirs up a great deal of emotions. Obviously first off, one feels a nostalgic air about it: a person gazing at an old family album. But as a second one that hits me everytime I see this, I feel a tension. The body language of the person.. Seems to be a bit tight and rigid. Perhaps they are looking back on painful memories? Hence an even stronger feeling of lonliness? I'm not quite sure how to put it into words exactly what tension I'm getting. What can I say, you rendered me speechless. Brilliant idea. angela :)

Okay, very cool Lou!!! This really strikes a chord with me. I'm a very nostalgic person, and emotions are triggered by memories every day. Love this photo.
