I don't tout this especially since it was awarded in an unpopular war that I'm not proud of. But for doing my part being drafted into the armed forces and making the best of it, I can live with it.

They do not give these out like candy....

...I have hesitated to post on Tom's fine and important Bronze Star image...but a fun story on why not, maybe...

I soon should be on the Upper Mekong in North Central Laos...there was a request on Friday that we (our small party of three, 2 men and one woman) attempt to quickly get additional Visas to Vietnam....

It's takes over a week so that's not possible considering our time frame....but just seeing that red flag with the single gold star when checking on visa procedures...Well...it could not be tolerated, borne, the weight too heavy.

There was some jokes made, but it would not be safe for me to be in Hanoi.

Props to Tom, but and despite the fact I write on that war a lot, we'd need a week and 10,000 words....even to get a start.

So I can't say a thing.

I don't think other people will understand....but Tom will.

Salute!

I was fortunate enough to miss that war. I did receive my personal invitation from President Nixon to join in but did not serve. I flunked the physical. Those of our generation who did, deserve a lot more credit than this country will ever be able to give them.
