OK... thanks for that suggestion. I did a select with Rectaugular Marquee tool to a size I want the frame, did a cut/paste and then Transform/scale and shrunk the pasted image to the thickness of the desired frame.

That is the fiddly part to get the fame even on all sides.

I must investigate further, shrinking with pre-determined pixel size?

The other thing I discovered is before cutting and pasting, set the background and foreground colours so that you can apply the Gradient tool to better match the colour and variable shade of the frame to the image.

Thanks K2 I'll go on a discovery tour. ~ Regards Bob

Great... bird-shot ;) Excellent colormatches bird/background. The frame OTOH.. is thinner on the right side. Why don't you just do a full selection, shrink it, and then outline with x pixels? On a separate layer, then you can toggle opacity too. Ought to work.. so should I.. I'll test this when I get back home :)

Thank you Mary Anne, Penny and Olaf.

It is pleasing to capture something without having to pp. (I'm discounting the frame when I say no pp) Especially when there is a quick moving target involved.

I used the centre focus spot on the wren and had to be quick with the shutter to catch him in the clear because these guys never seem to stop moving.

Thanks for taking the time to comment ~ Regards Bob

Nice portrait of the bird! I also like how the bright blue is contrasted by the almost colorless background.

That certainly is a sweet lens, Bob...and you've used it well here.

Thanks CJ and Traveller. I do like this lens, I often wish I had a 600mm F4 but then I could buy a good car for the price of one of those... so dream on?

These wrens are quite drab except for mating season when the male takes on this beautiful blue colour.

The female is brownish and almost 'sparrow like'.

Trav, I've been experimenting with this type of frame trying to invent a simple way to achieve this. I think I have it now except that I did not bother applying some tone matching this time... got too late and I wanted to get to bed.

Thanks for commenting, Regards Bob

I kinda like the interior border also....but yes, color, depth, just fabulous. Best Wishes, Traveller

VERY cute Bob! I love birds and wish I had that lens to photograph them (well, maybe that camera too!) - this is just great! Love the little blue head, our wrens are very drab in comparison. :-) CJ
