Formerly considered as subspecies of Blue Tit - Cyanistes caeruleus - Pimpelmees.
North-Africa and the Canary Islands.

The following 7 subspecies are being recognized:
Cyanistes teneriffae ultramarinus - Morocco to North-Tunisia;
Cyanistes teneriffae cyrenaicae - Northeast-Libya;
Cyanistes teneriffae degener - Fuerteventura and Lanzarote (East-Canary Islands);
Cyanistes teneriffae ombriosus - Hierro (Southwest-Canary Islands);
Cyanistes teneriffae palmensis - La Palma (West-Canary Islands);
Cyanistes teneriffae teneriffae - La Gomera and Tenerife (Central-Canary Islands);
Cyanistes teneriffae hedwigae - Gran Canaria (Central-Canary Islands).
