Athene noctua indigena - Romania to Greece through Ukraine and Turkey east to South-Russia;
Athene noctua lilith - Cyprus, South-Turkey to Iraq and the Sinai (Egypt);
Athene noctua bactriana - Iraq and Azerbaijan to Pakistan and Northwest-India;
Athene noctua orientalis - Northeast-Kazakhstan, Northwest-China;
Athene noctua ludlowi - Himalayas;
Athene noctua impasta - Westcentral-China;
Athene noctua plumipes - Mongolia, Southcentral-Siberia and Northeast-China;
Athene noctua glaux - Coastal North-Africa to Southwest-Israel;
Athene noctua saharae - Morocco to West-Egypt, Central-Arabia;
Athene noctua spilogastra - East-Sudan, Eritrea and Northeast-Ethiopia;
Athene noctua somaliensis - East-Ethiopia and Somalia.
