The following 4 subspecies are being recognized:
Rauenia bonariensis bonariensis - South-Brazil to Uruguay and North-Argentina;
Rauenia bonariensis schulzei - Paraguay and Northwest-Argentina;
Rauenia bonariensis composita - Andes of East- and Central-Bolivia;
Rauenia bonariensis darwinii - Andes of Ecuador to North-Chile.
