superlative. the facial expressions, the handclasp, the clutching of the green leaves... don't know how you did it!

I may be a little more cynical than Phil and say that 'tradition' here can mean, "I will wear head-to-toe black, no matter how hot and sweaty I get", but they are wonderful cooks... That said, there is the human side to tradition, which is all about real values, friendship and support as Phil says. This is a great image, and what makes it appealing to me is the defiant determination (to maintain tradition?) shown by the leading subject.

A magnificent capture, great composition, contrasts and expressions.

This is more than just "wonderful," Sean. It is a moving study of human support. As I note in my own instructional galleries, abstraction, incongruity, and human values are the three keys to visual expression. If ever there was a photographic defining "support" -- which is among the most important of human values -- this is it. This photo is all about survivors, and the support you have expressed here keeps such survivors going. It is a timeless image -- just as Sardinia itself must be timeless place.

This is probably your best image in this gallery, and has to also be among the most powerful on pbase as well.

Congratulations,

Phil Douglis
