This is my 1977 Motobecane Champion Team. I purchased it new in January 1979. The paint is original.

What a wonderful old bike. It gives me impetus to restore my old Marinoni (with all the wonderful old Campy stuff on it.) Great stuff.

Unfortunately, your Motobecane is not a 1977 Model. It more likely is a 1976 Model. The 1977 Models were Blue and constructed with Reynolds 753 tubes and lugs were outlined in gold trim. From 1978 through 1981, the Motobecane Team Champion was constructed with Columbus SL tubing. If you need the specifications for your bike or any Moto, E-mail me at averyallen@aol.com. It's a Grand Touring. I've got about 40 miles on it now. Smoothest bike I've ever ridden. I have been riding a Mongoose Mt. bike modified w/ more reasonable smooth tires, aero bar, luggage rack and fenders for commuting and errands. 50 mile round trip to work (no I don't do it every day) My point is I have considerable stamina, and the Moto is kicking my behind. It's so easy to ride, you don't realize how hard you are working. I'm thinking of some clamp-on aero bars.

$50 for a Motobecane that hasn't been ridden much could be a great deal, depending on the model.
