Prior to the BC Expo of 1986 my travels included a number of visits to the southern portion of British Columbia railway, but never further north than Lilloett. Usually based out of North Vancouver or Squamish I was able to drive Hiway 99 at ease before the advent and development of Whistler Mountain, this allowed for an easy chase and casual wait for the daily schedule of trains.
At the time the Dispatcher Radio Channel would announce a line up of trains for the day and their locations at that time, making an easy plan for photos. Just before Expo 86 the Railway changed their paint scheme, duties prevented me from visiting BC for about a decade and have yet to return to the old BC Railway route.
