at left is 42 Reed Road, "A Greek Revival built in 1858 by Captain Weston Tripp…. Later the home of Norman Hopkinton, chief of police from 1926 to 1938. The house was the station, captured booze was stored in the basement and used for antifreeze in police cars." (from The Head of Westport, Wpt Hist Society). The Coggeshall house is the next house up the road on the left, before it was moved to Newport.
