The field by the river in the background of the views from Whitcomb Summit was downriver from Whitcomb Hill Road and the old wood-surfaced bridge over the Deerfield.
It's overgrown today, and shows in this image as a scrubby strip downriver from "Reed Brook", beginning at about mile 2.25.
The still-existing fields upriver of that are out of sight from Whitcomb Summit, though you can almost make out the bridge in some of the images.
