Newfoundland

Human habitation can be traced back over 9000 yrs to the people of Maritime Archaic Tradition and gradually displaced by people of Dorset Culture (paleoeskimos),
then by the Innu/Inuit in Labrador & the Beothuks on the island. Oldest known European contact was made over a 1000 yrs ago by the Vikings and 500 yrs later
when European explorers arrived. Newfoundland and Labrador became the 10th province of Canada on March 31, 1949.

Your excellent images bring back memories of my visit to Signal Hill in July, Carol. But it was so ferociously windy there that day that we couldn't stay long. And we wore very warm jackets!
