Celebrating Family

Belle Isle, Detroit

As close as I may come to one of Traveller's excellent human gathering photos. This family had it going. There was a DJ and a buffet table with chafing trays. Similar scenes were repeated around the island. Detroiters get good use out of it.

School in Michigan starts after Labor Day, so we've got four weeks. The kids next door are growing up; all four of them will be in high school this year and next. Teaching triplets to drive sounds like quite an adventure.

Fortunately, convertible weather lasts well past the equinox (yeah, I know it can be year-round where you two live). I don't, however, mix topless with flip-flops.

Dave - I like that definition. I wear shorts and sandals for 3/4 of the year. I define when spring comes by getting out of my jeans and into my shorts. And i reverse it in the fall - putting the shorts away for winter.

No apology necessary, Traveller. I sometimes get picky about these things, including meteorological vs. astronomical seasons. As far as I'm concerned, summer really ends when I wear long pants and socks for three days in a row (I'm a shorts and flip-flops guy at heart).

Dave I have to apologize for our End of Summer conversation, you are correct, I was not...formally, Summer ends September 22...(I do apologize, but it did seem the End to me because of ending events).
