11 My Old K&E Slide Rule

Green Valley, AZ

I bought this in 1963 - and it was very expensive then.
But it is/was a precision calculator.
Along with the pen and paper, one could solve a lot of problems.

Canon EOS 90D ,Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
1/100s f/5.0 at 28.0mm iso250 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

T- thanks, but no apology is necessary. Life is busy for all. This was a tool that I used a lot, so I kept it safely stored away.

Jim, I apologize for not commenting on this excellent piece of work sooner. When you posted this, I immediately felt a swelling of joy and memory....so thanks, but also the time, effort and thought you put into construction of this picture....the white piece of paper is critical to the images success as is the pen coming into the frame at a 45 degree angle.

I apologize for the delay.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Excellent photo choice!

My father gave me one back in 76 after I enrolled in correspondence school to be an electrician. It was well built, made from aluminum and I never learned to use it to even a smidgen of its capabilities. I had a calculator that made those calculations easy. I think one of the kids eventually broke it. Paul.

This brings back memories. I got mine in 1972. It was plastic, but otherwise looked just like this one. I remember the excitement when my best friend got the first electronic calculator of anyone I knew, in 1975, I think. It only had four functions, and cost an arm and a leg, but it gave him bragging rights (for about a month).
