This is the F2 version. My model thinks that, as a mug shot is of a face, it's better to have the version with her face more in focus. I think this version has more impact. Any thoughts?

I also prefer this one, in my opinion, it has much more impact. Here, I noticed at the very first glance the mug that has been shot through because the sharpness is putting it contrastfully in front of everything else. Its position between the edge and the lower right third adds tension. But I noticed the horrified expression of the model at almost the same time, in spite of the intended unsharpness, because there are no other distracting objects or subjects. In the other two versions, the first thing that took my attention was the face but I had to search a few moments for the reason why she is looking shocked. BTW, congratulations on your model's brilliant acting talent. -Gerald

Great play on words! Congrats to your model for such a convincing act as well. I like both pics. They both have something different going. Though the other puts more emphasis on the expression, while this one would be more suited to the concept at hand and the lady's expression is more of a gasp! shudder! . The background is perfectly blurred, not too much or too little. So I pick shot 2. All in all both shots are keepers. -Techo

Ditto what Jim said. When I first saw the first one, it took me a few seconds to notice the water leaking out of the mug. Only then did I understand the title. The message comes across immediately on this version.

I like this shot the best, especially for this challenge. I like the emphasis on the coffee mug, yet her expression of shock still comes through well. The first post doesn't have a center of attention as well as this one does. Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments. Traveller, she is very good natured. She has helped me out on more than one occasion with a shot for one of these challenges. She pulled so many different faces for the shots I took for this one, that I'm having a hard time deciding which I like best. I love the expression in this one, but unfortunately I don't have one like this with her face more in focus. I have uploaded yet another, with both face and mug in focus, to pending, in case people like that one better than the first one. Alastair

I would further add that the real subject of the photograph is the Model and not the Cup....which is only a prop...and excuse to shoot her, imho. Traveller

LOL...you have a very good natured model....I am more interested with her obvious comfort with this (something I admire), than the f stop question....but since you asked, then the First image is better, imo. Traveller

These shots are exceptionally funny and clever, both as images and as an interpretation of the topic. To be honest, I probably prefer the first, partially because your model is doing such a good job with her facial expression. Both are excellent though. I said in response to another image that I probably lead a sheltered life. Now I'm certain I lead a sheltered life. Regards, Michael
