Terrific composition Paul.

I saw one of these plasma balls whilst shopping today and thought ..."golly gosh" (translate as @#&$$$@) I'll have to think of something else now! Too good.

Love the expression... I'm convinced! ~ Regards Bob

I've shot the plasma balls many times. To be successful you need it to be dark, long exposure, good tripod, remote cable and enough DOF to get it all in focus. A good lens is might helpful too.

Did you by chance go look at the one I put in Pending? That one was really fun to play with. Paul A.

Great work. I have a plasma generator also and I have been trying to find a way to capture the rays. Your work indicates it can be done. Thank you.

Don't believe everything you read in the EXIF guys, I used 2 speed lights at 1/64 power triggered using the el-cheapo Cactus V4 triggers. Set the camera for 10 second delay so I could get in position and I rigged up a foot switch so I could trip the transmitter as soon as the shutter opened to capture me attempting to hold the ball and then let the camera finish it timing cycle. This was a fun shoot.

On a few of them I used a fluorescent green glow in the dark sleeve to create a effect like a laser but could never get it to look quite right so I gave up on it. I may put on in pending so you can see what I am talking about. Paul Alters

Excellent work, Paul.

Being able to hold that pose for 20s is quite an achievement, I think. And the image is spot on for the challenge topic.

You - and Kelly - make it impossible for me to think of something sensible to suggest in terms of possible improvements! If I think of something useful to add, I will come back to this image.

Compliments! Regards Nico
