Standley Chasm - Angkerle Atwatye
Standley Chasm, a narrow cleft in the ranges, is about 50km from Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
We timed our visit for late morning/lunch time as that is when the sun is overhead and lights up the chasm walls a brilliant fiery red colour.
It was a bit of a hike over rocky ground - the trail follows a creek bed and care must be taken over the varying surfaces.
Unfortunately we couldn't avoid the hoards of students who were doing the walk too so
my photos don't show the chasm properly. But isn't it pretty?
