Up the road from the covered bridge in the previous photo, is this old stone bridge.
The Poinsett Bridge was built in 1820. It's believed to be the oldest such structure in the entire Southeastern United States.
It is said that it was designed by Robert Mills, the architect who designed the Washington Monument.
The bridge got its name from Joel Poinsett, a prominent South Carolina politician who helped to organize and build the bridge.
He also gives his name to the poinsettia flower, which he saw and brought back samples of while serving as Minister to Mexico.
Some locals claim this place is haunted.
