Campbell's Covered Bridge

Landrum, South Carolina

I asked my sister if we could go see this covered bridge, the only remaining covered bridge in South Carolina.
To my horror, when we arrived there, a large blue and white crane was sitting in front of the bridge and orange mesh was all around the area saying it was closed due to construction, so we could not get close to it.
It was built in 1909 of pine and spans the Beaverdam Creek in a small park with hiking trails.
I did my best to eliminate the crane. Some of the orange mesh remains.
Always expect the unexpected when traveling!

A beautiful, timeless and well composed capture of this covered bridge. I like the complementary color scheme, clarity and tranquil mood. Great job overcoming the obstacles you mention to getting this image. VV++

The charm of the covered bridge is quite well conveyed in your image. Nicely composed with the foreground tree providing nice depth and context.

You did a great job of cloning out the crane and orange barriers, Char. A beautiful bridge just like in the movies.V

It looks charming, and I'm sure far better without the crane. You did a good job of getting rid of it! V.

What a neat subject and the long view worked out so well.

that's certainly funky...just as well you were kept at a distance, as the shot works perfectly to show the bridge in its attractive context..
