My friend loaded her two horses and off we went on the interstate and highways of Iowa to Coon City! Garst farm resort provided us a cabin and the horses individual pens in the shade! Lots of lovely trails to ride and in three days we didn't cover half of them! Tons of turkey vultures, red tailed hawks, Great Blue herons and other bird life. Their stocked ponds are great for fishing or sitting and watching the trumpeter swans released Iowa officials. We did have to open and close a few pasture gates and our horses were fascinated by the cows! The cows did escape into our camp ground area where we kept the horses a couple of times. We loved the trail along the river and the trail that crossed water in a beautiful valley! The trails up on the bluff provided nice vistas of the Iowa country side.
