The Samburu have dances for many occasions in life. This jumping dance is performed only by men and it celebrates manhood. The Samburu, together with the Maasai, are well-known for being able to jump high into the air from a standing position with just the strength of the arches of the feet. This dance has become quite a sport for them! It is said too that the higher a man jumps, the more attractive he is. This Samburu looks like he is about to soar into the sky!
