Frost heaves and pot holes aren't the only road hazards

Bob did a great job of slowing down for the many road hazards along the way. The Canadians were great about marking pot holes and frost heaves with orange flags and cones. Not so much in Alaska.

The Canadians don't have half the markings they had back in '09 but we sit higher up in our RV and can see many of the frost heaves prior to hitting the heaves. On the Canadian side they are currently performing/or not a 5-year experiment on a 17-33 mile section of highway to determine how best to fight the frost heave issue. They won't be paving it at all till the experiment terminates. We were told this by the owner of Sourdough Campground in Tok. He also said its much better to drive the highway b4 the highway thaws out in late spring. Tom sez he will never drive the ALCAN again. I, on the otherhand, would do it again.
