These were taken while traveling the Alaska Highway in Spring 2014. We were a little early in the season and many of the "beautiful blue lakes" where still covered in white ice. But we enjoyed our trip very much and found many advantages to travelling early. One was fewer RVs on the road, and another was lots of wildlife, many just dropping their young. We had to be very careful finding campsites for the night because many places weren't open yet. That wouldn't have been a problem for my husband and me with our small camper, but we were also travelling with a couple of tent campers. One thing we did find is many campgrounds were free or the rates were reduced because they were just beginning to open and didn't have all their conveniences, such as running water, available. That was fine with us.
