This past July I was lucky enough to be able to pursue the dream of a cycling lifetime . . . ride the classic climbs of the Tour de France and see the race itself on some of those toughest mountains. I spent 11 days seeing France including the Alps, Provence, and the Pyrenees, and riding the climbs of Col du Glandon, Col du Galibier, Col du Telegraph (oh, all right--the EASY side!), Alpe d’ Huez, Mont Ventoux, The Tourmalet, Col du Aspin, Peyresourde, and Port de Bonaigua in Spain. 9 days, 325 miles, 62,000 feet of climbing. At the end there were two days in Paris, with Saturday night on the town, a walk to the Eiffel Tower on Sunday morning, and then exclusive team area access at the climactic final stage on the Champs Elysses. I tried to shoot as many pictures as possible without ruining my enjoyment of the trip. I ended up with over 3800, and these are the best of them after a whole lot of editing. I hope you enjoy seeing them almost as much as I enjoyed the trip itself. |
