Preparing for Memorial Day
Union Station is hosting an exhibit of Associated Press photos from World War II. This is part of a huge banner hanging from the center archway in front of the station. I thought it was a neat idea to use it as a screen through which to shoot one of the flags on the plaza. Original photo of US soldiers marching through Paris by AP Staff photographer Peter J. Carroll, August 29, 1944. (That dark line on the left is a big seem in the banner. )
This Memorial Day weekend the World War Two Memorial on the National Mall will be the dedicated. I'll see what I can do to get some photos, but looks like the ceremony itself requires tickets.
