January 12, 2004

On my first full day out to shoot a photo of the day, I knelt down to get a better view of something and put my hand on a fire hydrant. I ended up shooting it too. I will try shooting fire hydrants a few more times this week to see what I can come up with. Most of them seem to be green, here. I know of one black one.

I was carrying the eggs home when I stopped to snap this. It was so gray out I had to get the tripod and come back. The eggs are now in the fridge waiting to be called into service or eaten.

Thanks for the crop comment Ian. I did crop very closely. I can give it a little more room. I haven't seen one snapped off by a car, but was thinking it'd be a great PAD.

It's just cropped a tad to tight on the right and bottom IMO. Echo what Nikki has to say, interesting to us in UK but an every day thing that you pass by in US - more please!! Have you ever seen one snapped off by a car or is that just for the movies and music videos?

Yes I agree about the cropping. Interesting how you shot it this way. Another view of of a fire hydrant!

Fire hydrants? Where are the eggs from yesterday? Just kidding. :) I like the crop and the detail in the photo. Ours here are silver of all colors.

Nice sharp image. Ours are red here in Alabama.

This is so cool! In England, we have little drains in the ground which the firemen use to pump their water. Fire hydrants like this don't exist!

I have a few fire hydrants myself.. but nothing too recent. They can be pretty interesting. Looking forward to seeing more.
