January 11, 2004

Today I walked by St. Mark's Episcopal Church looking for a photo of the day. One door was half open and revealed a stained glass window in the foyer. While taking some photos a couple passed by and the wife looked at what I was doing. "Oh, it's pretty," she remarked to her husband. There are many things we don't even notice until we start trying to come up with a photo a day.

Later I was caught studying an ubiquitous object at Eastern Market as if it were a piece of art; some amazing thing that I had never seen before. I felt silly, but I plan soon to spend a few PADs on this object as an exercise in composition and creativity.

I headed to the supermarket to buy among other things, white eggs for experimenting with light and shadows. (They were OUT of stock!) But I came on this sunset as I left my building. True the incandescent white balance punched up the blues, but correcting in Photoshop lost much of the orange, too. This is close to what I saw. (It could be sharper.)

Photography doesn't just change the way you look around, it changes the way you see. I love this sunset... very nice capture.

Mark, this is really beautiful. I'm so glad you are sharing your work with the cyberworld. My days revolve around autism all the time now, so it is nice to have something beautiful and positive to look forward to. Keep up the great work!

I like the buildings in the picture as well as the tree. Great shot.

Positively gorgeous, Mark. Not only is the transition of hues in the sky utterly amazing, but that silhouetted tree overhead is simply AWESOME! Remarkable work. I'll also second your motion - and PJ's - this project certainly DOES change the way you see the world around you... and I'm positively thrilled to know that you're enjoying it so much. :>

Really nice colors Mark. I really like the blue to orange transition.
Wish I could offer some PS tips, but I currently use PSP. My Russian copy of PS7 doesn't like XP, and I doubt if techsupport will give me the time of day.
