The very first US announced COVID-19 death was in February.
Over 100,000 American lives have since been lost in a mere 3 months.
As recently as 18 days ago (when American started to reopen)Trump downplayed the on-going COVID problem by saying, “I feel about vaccines like I feel about tests: This is going to go away without a vaccines. It’s going to go away, and we’re not going to see it again."
Since May 8th, there has been approximately 500,000 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the USA PLUS approximately another 25,000 American coronavirus Deaths. Testing still isn't up to proper speed. This is all note worthy and frightening.
Trump never made any mention - neither yesterday nor today - of the very grim milestone of 100,000 Americans having lost their lives to COVID-19. To him, this 100,000 death milestone seemed to be just another day. Meanwhile, the former Vice President of the United States issued a message of comfort to Americans https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8363485/Joe-Biden-issues-message-comfort-U-S-passes-100-000-coronavirus-deaths.html

In the NEWS: The current US president threatened on Monday to pull the plug on the Charlotte Republican Convention location if North Carolina's governor is “unable to guarantee” packed full attendance in the convention arena. With COVID-19 cases & deaths currently rising in North Carolina, the state governor has heath concerns for the residents of his state. More detail: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/26/gop-north-carolina-convention-282493
The governor of Missouri immediately volunteered Missouri as an alternate location & said he would make sure that the convention arena would be fully packed as is Mr Trump's desire. The governors of Florida and Texas have also volunteered their states. Meanwhile, COVID-19 is not going to just go away on its on. No one can just "wish" it away. Instead, the virus gains fuel from large, densely packed crowds. And more people will die.
Doctors and scientists say" "Until a vaccine is available, the safest way to keep coronavirus from spreading is to keep your distance from others, whether you’re sick or not." Packing an arena definitely is not keeping a safe distance from others. I have no idea what the Democrats plan to do about their convention during this (a Presidential election year), but it seems like COVID is of no concern for the Republicans. No matter what, 2020 is going to go down in history as one of the stranger (and sadder) times for the United States.
