6:38 AM - The Totem Pole. With the sun rising above the clouds, we spent about a half hour shooting other distant monuments in the morning light. Hiking back to the jeep, we passed through the shadow of the Totem Pole. I stopped, backed up about 10 feet to get just within the shadow again, and shot this hand-held looking back toward the sun.
