Monument Valley, June 2008

What a fantastic trip to Monument Valley!

Native guide Tom Phillips expertly guided us to some of the wonderful areas that
make this epic area so amazing. With the great guide, great company, and great weather,
it was a trip to remember. Gotta thank fellow Pbase'r Derek Von Briesen for
prodding me to go on this trip...wouldn't have happened without him.

The monsoon was just kicking in when we were there, and treated us to great skies and even
an evening thunderstorm over the valley while we were on Hunt's Mesa. It was absolutely
breathtaking to hear the thunder roll through the valley as the clouds rolled overhead.

Can't wait to go back...

What a gorgeous place to be when the light is right. It appears that you had some golden light at the right time for your shoot. Yes you were blessed with some great images.....v.

Really gorgeous set of captures, Brian. What a pleasure to shoot and spend time with you. Good to see your incredible compositional sense and minimalist tendencies haven't rusted with disuse!! You see as well as you ever have. the final shot from the afternoon on hunt's is a masterpiece of mood and simplicity, highly evocative.
