The afternoon light was cutting across a meadow in front of the aspens, lighting this clump of grass as it was tossed in the wind. I set a very fast shutter speed to keep the grass sharp, and used the widest apeture to blur the background. Here I've isolated the two essential elements of the landscape at this moment; the foreground grass, and the background aspens. The light striking the grass enabled good separation between the subjects, while selective focus brought out the dominant elements... 1/1500 sec, F/1.8
