This is basically a study of the relationship between the aspens, and the fallen leaves on the fir trees in the background. Working with two very different textures and tones made for an interesting space to work within. I've been asked whether it was intentional that the tree along the left was cut right along the edge of the photograph. For the final composition, yes - though the image was originally conceived with more detail to the left of that tree. This unusual composition really works for me, however, with the width of the tree along the left edge, balancing well with the width of background along the extreme right side of the image. If you havn't noticed by looking at a lot of my work, I tend to use 'negative' space as much as positive space in my images - this is a good example of that in practice. 1/100 sec, f/3.5
