6:01 PM. The wind was now blowing quite briskly, and was working through all of the layers of clothing I had on. My hands were quickly growing quite numb. Waves were all over the lake. The light was fading fast, and I wanted some images with the shoreline in the composition with the distant tufa and clouds. Stopping down to f/22 had the extra benefit of increasing the exposure time to over a second, which was sufficient to blur the waves on the lake into a dreamlike quality. I really liked the effect I was getting with these long exposures, and used them throughout the rest of the evening as I shot along the east shore of the South Tufa field that evening. 1.5 sec, f/22.
