3:48 PM

3:48 PM. Several inches of snow had fallen over the tufa fields a couple of days before, and I was hoping to catch the tufas with some snow still lingering on them...but I was not so lucky. Only patches of snow remained in the shadowed areas of the tufa field. As a cloud obscured the sun, the flat light gave an opportunity to compose the snow and tufa with the rich golden ground foliage. I had actually scouted this particular location for a shot, and when the opportunity presented itself (clouds) I quickly found the location and got the image, and 'feeling' I was looking for. 1/60, f/8.
