This was among the first images I took this day, and just about my favorite. After an exhausting hike on the 'notch' trail, I worked myself through a couple wonderful canyons finally reaching the final bench which holds the sandstone wonders. Looking to my left on the hike up I noticed this scene...and it immediately struck me as holding great potential. Only problem was, the winds were gusting 30-40 mph, sand was blowing everywhere, and I was, frankly, rather miserable (no sleep the night before). I cranked up the ISO on my 10D, and used a higher than usual shutter speed in order to keep the grass from blurring in the wind. It took me about 10 exposure to catch it just right...and this is the result. A little photoshop was used to reduce the saturation, and burn in the top of the image just a bit.
