First stop on our sightseeing agenda is the Pyramids of Giza. Giza is the city opposite Cairo on the West bank of the Nile. In ancient Egyptian culture the East side of the Nile was for the living and the West side of the Nile was for the dead. Hence, the pyramids and tombs of the Pharos and nobles of ancient Egypt are located on the West bank of the Nile while the temples to the living pharaos/gods are on the East bank.
