October 2006 finds us on an impromptu trip to Egypt. We flew via JFK to Cairo where we spent about a week touring the cultural sites in and around this capital city. Then it was on to Luxor where we boarded a Nile river boat for another week of cruising and visiting the ancient sites along the longest river in the world. We ended our cruise in Aswan where we visited the Aswan High Dam and learned about the Nubian culture of the Upper Nile Valley. After that, back to Cairo and then a very long and painful flight home.
