St. Kilian (* around 640, according to later and unreliable tradition in Mullagh, County Cavan, Ireland; † according to legend in 689 in Würzburg) was,
according to tradition, an Irish-Scottish missionary bishop. Together with his two companions, Kolonat and Totnan,
who allegedly also died as martyrs, he is venerated as a Franconian apostle
who is said to have started the Irish Scottishmission in Franconia at the turn of the 7th and 8th centuries.
