Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi, the 3rd largest province of Thailand where the city situated 150 km west of Bangkok on an excellent, scenic highway. Kanchanaburi city, itself a popular resort town, is on the bank of the picturesque Mae Klong River at the meeting point of its two tributaries namely Mae Nam Khwae Noi and Mae Nam Khwae Yai. Noi in Thai means “small” and Yai means “Big”. The Sai Yok National Park is about 50km northwest from city of Kanchanaburi. The city also serves, as overnight base for tourists to visit the province's many attractions, beside that well-known Bridge on the River Kwai or so called Saphan Kham Mae Nam Khwae in Thai.

There are a few spectacular waterfalls such as Namtok Sai Yok Noi and Namtok Sai Yok Yai. In Thai, Namtok means “Waterfall”. Jungle tours, Kayaking and river cruise for the nature lovers and for the foot-loose travellers, there is the thrilling 200 km drive through newly opened jungle areas to the Thai-Myanmar border to visit ethnic Mon and Karen settlements.
