Quick note on Gimpy:
This shot is of a three year old cub named "Gimpy" who according to the local fishermen has had a relatively hard life. His mother was shot two years ago, and during the process was wounded himself, hence the name. The following year his sister "Blondie" caught him enough fish to survive, but early this year she moved down river and became a problem bear with the local fishermen and had to be killed as well. Gimpy appears to be able to hold his own this year and a future shot will show him with a large salmon. But... he is obviously in an area with a large human population and is at risk now as he becomes more comfortable with people. So the real question is how do we as responsible photographers/fishermen etc. not overly influence the "local" population to the point they become a hazard and then are forced to be shot.
The time change grabbed me last night as I sat down to work and fell asleep at the computer ;o(
I'll try and catch up on comments today! -BJ
