26th - Summer Again...

near Hampen, Glos. view map

After a pretty nondescript and miserable June so far, the weather has picked up nicely this weekend

I took this with a polariser - not sure I like the effect it gives to landscapes any more, it makes for a rather squiffy and unnatural looking shot...but that might just be me!

Nikon D700 ,Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D AF
1/40s f/16.0 at 24.0mm iso200 circular polariser full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

I think the shot is great, I think it looks very natural and I am sure the colours and contrast are closer to the actual eye image that what the camera would have interpreted without the polarizer.

that`s a lovely view...it might be worth comparing the polarizer effect with the same shot, minus polarizer, yet a bit underexposed..perhaps you would like that more..

Beautiful view, very nice scene. V.

Oh my gosh....another stunning image!

I agree that the colors here are not natural. Still it is a beautiful scene. Maybe from another world where photographers have to use a special 'depolariser' filter to get earth-like colors. :)

Well it looks like a cool summer compared to ours, but it looks veryEnglish!! A good composition, and I like the colour!

Looking very summery indeed. I think it looks great with the polarizer, but Phil does have a point.

Your June sounds like ours. Beautiful countryside, and yes, I get the dark 'blodge' as Phillip calls it with mine too.

It was a scorcher and you've captured that well. Could do with sheep :0)
Mairéad26-Jun-2011 20:51
This really is summery - please send some over here.
Kevin Chester26-Jun-2011 20:51
Yep, thats got summer written all over it, a fine vista

Thats a lot of green with no sheep.

The landscape is beautiful!
Phillip Normanton26-Jun-2011 17:44
Ah yes, the ol' wide-angle with polariser debate! It does give a bit of an un-natural dark blodge. Crop it to a panoramic with more land than sky and it doesn't look so obvious :o)

Nice wide openness.
