Like new Nikon 500mm f/4E FL ED VR AF-S NIKKOR

Like new Nikon 500mm f/4E FL ED VR AF-S NIKKOR, with everything you get with a brand new lens from the camera store including the purchase receipt from Downtown Camera. This is a Nikon Canada lens.

It is very clean, and looks like new, without a scratch on it. The glass is pristine, with no fungus, haze or dust inside. The lens comes with the front neoprene lens covering and rear lens cap, instruction manual, lens hood, grey suitcase and Nikon lens strap (never used.) It comes with the original lens foot. In the photos is a better optional lens foot with Arca Swiss compatability that I'm selling separately. It's not included in this sale.

The lens hood is really nice and clean, with no real signs of use, and if you think you might use it, I've got a second lighter, shorter custom made lens hood. It provides the lens just enough protection to allow you to put the lens down in the grass with the camera up and front lens glass down, without the risk of the uber valuable front glass getting scratched. This is a ONE of a kind custom hood made for me by Karl Zemlin. He sells excellent lens hoods on eBay, and directly from his website - but the hood you would normally get from him for this lens is longer. These lens hoods cost almost $300 from him, and have the great advantage of being lighter than the normal lens hood. You can see both lens hoods in the last photo.

$6,900 firm

This lens is a HUGE improvement over the previous version, the VR model, or G. That lens was a fair amount heavier, but even more importantly, the older version is very front heavy. This lens is not front heavy. It feels light as a feather. This E FL version is a JOY to hand hold. The older VR G version - NOT so much.

This lens works VERY well with the 1.4 x teleconverter, for 700mm at f/5.6 - and still provides VERY sharp images, even with the TC attached. I was very surprised at how well this lens works with a teleconverter, and autofocus is still fast and reliable. And this lens will still work with a 2 x TC (1,000mm at f/8)
