Nikon 180-400mm f/4 TC 1.4 E FL ED VR AF-S NIKKOR

Nikon 180-400mm f/4 TC 1.4 E FL ED VR AF-S NIKKOR, lens with several copies of the original purchase receipt from Downtown Camera. This is a Nikon Canada lens.

This lens is clean, and I don't think there is a scratch on it anywhere. The glass is pristine, with no fungus, haze or dust inside. The lens comes with the front neoprene lens covering (LC-K103) and rear lens cap, carbon fiber lens hood HK-41, large Nikon ballistic nylon backpack/carry case (CL-L2) and Nikon LN-2 lens strap (never used.), and the NC 40.5 Neutral Colour 40.5mm slip in Filter It comes with the original lens foot. In the photos, attached to the lens is a better optional lens foot with Arca Swiss compatability that I'm selling separately. It's not included in this sale.

I also have the original Nikon box this lens was shipped in from Japan (seen in the back of the first photo).

I've also got an optional second, lighter, shorter custom made lens hood, available as a separate sale. See the last two photos. It provides the lens just enough protection to allow you to put the lens down in the grass with the camera up and front lens glass down, without the risk of the uber valuable front glass getting scratched. This is a ONE of a kind custom hood made for me by Karl Zemlin. He sells excellent lens hoods on eBay, and probably directly from his website - but the hood you would normally get from him for this lens is longer. His normal lens hoods cost about $300.

And also available separately is an excellent plastic lock in place Karl Zemlin plastic front lens cap that costs $150 to buy new.

$7,500 firm

This lens has a built-in teleconverter that engages with a flick of right index finger (with a very satisfying sound as it moves into place (like the quality of a Rolls Royce door closing).)

My copy of this lens is exceptionally sharp at 400mm and f4. I can make out every hair on the animals that I photograph, even at distance. This lens overcomes the problem with the original 200-400 f4 lens that was not sharp at longer distances.

When I first got this lens, I took a collection of photos of the lens in comparison to the 200-400 f4 (and a few other lenses). You can see that gallery of photos here:

This lens is THE one single lens you would want if you could take only one lens on a trip. It is the IDEAL safari lens that zooms from 180mm all the way up to 560mm. It is f4 from 180-400mm, and when you engage the internal TC, it zooms from about 256mm to 560mm at f/5.6.

If I could use only one lens for wildlife of all different sizes, at vastly varying distances, this would be the lens. But I'm completely getting out of photography, so this lens is now for sale.
