Castle farm, Oud-Beijerland, 1670

Arnhem, Arnheim

Behold the farm of Jonkheer Reinhart van Aeswijn. So impressive, it looks like a castle!
The great prosperity in the new Hoekse Waard polder can be seen in the stately façade. It is
therefore not built as a typical farmhouse façade, but with a construction and decorations that
are then used mainly in cities. The impressive front house was erected in 1617 as an extension of
an older and much more modest farmhouse. Van Aeswijn leases his farm to Jan Schillemans.
The name Schillemansstede therefore quickly lingers. Only the men's rooms on the floor are
forbidden grounds for tenant Schillemans. They remain at the disposal of the squire. If he wants
to go hunting, for example. Placed here in 1956 and 1967.
