Todau was a great day at WNWR for several reasons. First off there was a bumper crop of butterflys/moths due to the warm weather lingering so long. Second it was National Lands Day and we celebrated this day by working on the restoration at Beaver Dam walkway which is located within an isolated access area of WNWR. This National landmark at one time was a walkway totally across the wetlands known as Beaver Dam Swamp. Unfortunately some mean low-life burned the bridge across the Beaver Dam creek within this wetland...with limited funds the area was slowly deteriorated. Then came the influx of (shall we say) immoral low-lifes started using the area when they were to cheap to rent a room. Finally the enforcement branch got control back in the area and now volunteers and WNWR are bringing this area back to the standards a National Land should be maintained.
