Today was a ghood day at the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge's Visitor Center. Early in the morning the resident pair of American Kestrels perched with their four fledged young ones. Then Ranger Kevin conducted a "Fishing 101" seminar for the youth and an update of new fishing gear for the adult family members attending...then a short hike to a closed Refuge Pond, where new fishing techniques and several youngster's first experience with a life fish. Finally a check on Gracie's Opsrey nest allowed for clearer photographs of her chick as it rapidly grows for first flight sometime in late July or August. A good day for flowers, insects, birds, and humans.
